Welcome Parents & Families to Mission Hill
2018-2019 PTA Officers and committee leads
The PTA is more than meetings. We need help from parents in many ways including building a garden box, helping check out sports equipment during lunch, chaperoning dances and other events onsite which can be creative work or just moving heavy boxes. All help very much appreciated by Mission Hill students and families.
Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month in the Library. Everyone is welcome - we hope to see you there!
First meeting of the 2018-2019 school year will be Tuesday, September 11, 2016, 6:30-7:30pm.

With the help of a binder full of information from past presidents, you will run meetings, communicate with the community for fund-raising and other events, reach out to parents. Agenda is submitted to members via email and website.
Vice President
Mainly an assistant to the president, you can also be spokesperson at events if needed.
Secretary
Takes minutes of the meetings and distributes to PTA members. Currently this is done via the website.
Treasurer
Keeps track of all monies coming in and going out. Responsible for once a year audit.
Parliamentarian

Hospitality Chair
Hospitality has two main components: staff/teacher breakfasts, and the end of year lunch. Use "Signup genius" account with volunteer info to send out all calls for breakfast items and help. Current Hospitality has account information.
•Hospitality plans and delivers breakfast for teachers ~5/6 times a year….from August through May. Coordinate with the principal and her assistant, regarding best dates. They put them on the calendar and make announcements that morning. I tended to do alternate bigger breakfasts with a smaller coffee/bagels one.
Typically school year hospitality events for teachers: Back to school planning meeting breakfast (day before school starts) big, Friday before Thanksgiving, Friday in December (before winter break, smaller coffee and bagels), Thursday, February 14, Valentine's Day, Friday right before spring break,
Friday, First full week of May - National Teacher Appreciation Week , Last Wednesday of the school year - Staff/Teacher Luncheon (this is the only midday event, starts at 1:00 PM).
•We also organize the teacher/staff appreciation luncheon which is the biggest, most complex event.
Occasionally, we also bring snacks for the PTA meetings.
All purchases can be reimbursed by keeping receipts and handing them in with a reimbursement sheet to the Treasurer.
Communications
Help with school web page and school communication via School Loop and other avenues.
8th grade dance
Last dance of the year. Needs coordination and meetings from about January. Some of the dance decorations are saved to help decorate the Civic Auditorium for graduation the following week.
