Where can I find out about important dates at school?

Go to and scroll through the calendar on the right hand side of the Home Page where is says "Upcoming Events" or click "More Events" to see the master school calendar.  You can also click on Daily Bulletin under “Quick Links” to see recent MHTV news for students and staff.   Also, the “News” heading on the Home Page for Mission Hill is frequently updated with current information regarding school news and events.  Check the Home Page frequently for news.  School Loop emails also have news that can be accessed through your daily emails from School Loop or when you log on to your School Loop account.

Can I attend OCEANs Day with my student?

No, OCEANs Day is just for incoming sixth graders and new students to Mission Hill.  However, parents are invited to stay and purchase PE uniforms and visit with the Principal and PTA.  The schedule for returning to pick up your student, get their schedule and purchase a planner is on the website.

How can I get involved at Mission Hill?

You can attend PTA meetings, become a PTA  member-at-large and help with events (baking for teacher breakfasts/special events, helping at PTA-sponsored school events, dining for dollars fundraisers, etc.) and sign up to be on the school volunteer list.  Attendance at a meeting is not a required part of being a member of PTA, there are many activities to get involved in outside of the meetings.  The meetings are useful to get to know other families and find out more of what is going on but there are many activities you can be part of without going to a meeting.  Mission Hill especially loves when parents volunteer during lunch time to help supervise students and lunchtime events. You can also help with: fundraising, campus beautification, hospitality, chaperoning dances, assisting in the library, assisting with yearbook, Advising student created clubs, helping with lunchtime intramurals, and helping in classrooms. We are looking for help managing the volunteer list via "signup genius" (no meeting attendance needed), getting information to the local papers about school activities, and other PTA roles. For a full list, which is constantly being updated, see the PTA activity page on the Mission Hill home page under Parents at the top of the page.

How can I contact the PTA or help or someone for corrections on the web site?

In the Parent tab of the school web site there is an email link that is monitored by PTA officers.  Any questions or concerns or additions to the calendar can be addressed there.  Staff emails are on the main page.

I want to learn more about the school day and expectations.

Click on the “Administration” tab on the home page and download the Handbook.  This is full of information about Mission Hill.  You can also find a lot of useful information in your student’s School Planner. This can be purchased at OCEANs Day  for $10 at the Registration Fair on Tuesday, August 21st from 9:30AM-2:00PM and is an important tool for each student at Mission Hill.

What is the Mission Hill Registration Fair?

The Registration Fair is the Mission Hill event you and/or your student need to attend on Tuesday, August 21st to turn in the beginning of year informational forms (Health History, Emergency Card, Locker Agreement, Lunch form, & TDAP verification for any 7th grader still needing to turn that in). You will also be able to purchase PE clothes, purchase the MH planner, purchase math notebooks, receive more important information, as well as pick up your student's class schedule, which also includes their locker number and combo. There are time slots for each grade level to attend the Registration Fair: 6th grade is from 9:30AM - 12:00PM, 7th grade is from 12:00PM - 1:00PM, & 8th grade is from 1:00PM - 2:00PM.  New students find it helpful to have a parent walk with them to their various classrooms to  learn where each room is and to practice opening lockers.  This really helps alleviate first day jitters.

Can my student attend the Registration Fair on their own or do they need a parent to be with them?

Yes, as long as your student has all the beginning of year forms filled out with their parent's signature they are able to attend the Registration Fair on their own. 

Is the 7th Grade Orientation Mandatory?

Yes. The 7th Grade Orientation is on Tuesday, August 1st, 12:00 - 1:00 PM in the gym. This orientation counts as 7th graders first day of school. All 7th graders will receive an exit ticket at the end of the orientation, and this ticket is needed to enter the Registration Fair.

Where can I find out about School Supplies?

Some supplies can be purchased in advance by check for supply lists. The remainder of the supplies will be assigned to your student once school begins.

There are so many ways that you can get involved at Mission Hill. We encourage all parents to get involved in some aspect of MHMS.

Come to our monthly PTA meetings and join in the process.  Help us shape the events and activities at the school, learn more about what is going on at MH and in the School District from Ms. Hodge’s monthly reports, and share your ideas to make MH an even better place for your children.  Our first meeting will be on Tuesday, September 13th  at 7:00 pm in the MH  Library.

Join a committee, volunteer to help at an event, sign up to help during one of our many lunch time jobs, chaperone a field trip, or help with a fundraiser. There are so many ways your time and talent can help our community.
